"RPG Maker 2000 games that try to do something different" |
22/08/03 "We're gonna be in SAGE"
I'm starting to hate this website abit. Sometimes the index page uploads fine, other times it doesn't at all! Oh well.
Big news today, I'm entering Eggfan Productions into SAGE- The Sonic Amateur Games Expo. The game I'm entering is Dr Robotnik and the Giant Egg. I've had to postpone the PC version of Sonic Shuffle as I've come across some major problems, hopefully it should be ready for a demo about December time. I'm keeping Dr Robotnik and the Giant Egg pretty much underwraps till SAGE gets going in September and after SAGE I'll update the site with all the info on it and remove the Knuckles: Wands of Dreams section since it's been canned, I just felt it wasn't as good a game as I'd hoped it to be. I seem to have canned a different game each time I've updated the site......
17/06/03 "Shit..."
Amazingly RM2K has decided to mess me about. So I had to uninstall it. Fortunatley I'd backed everything up but the CD that the zip files with the RTP and the program itself has strangely wiped itself (as have a few other of my CD-RW's). Now I have to download the RTP and program all over again!!!! The worst thing is it took over a week for me to download them using Getright on my 56k. Also, for some reason, this page didn't appear last time I updated. No idea why. On a lighter note, I've started work on a PC version of Sonic Shuffle in RM2K. But that'll have to be put on hold for a while with the other games till I get RM2K again.
15/05/03 "Pointless rantings"
Why aren't fan games as popular as original games? And how come games made in RM2K are looked down on when compared to those with fancy engines that cost money to get? I'm just wondering, how can a game that's been programmed and coded by one guy in his bedroom be better just because they've done it in 3D and payed out £500 for a game engine be better than a game made in 2D using a free translation of a popular Japanese game maker? You don't need to be excellent at coding and have an original character to make a fun game!
10/05/03 "Long time no see"
Well. Long time no see? The SoaH E2 event is long gone and well, there are many new changes to Eggfan Productions. First of all I have realised that the amount of games I've been working on is TOO MANY. As of now the following games are canned and are unlikely to be worked on again; S Trader, Jay and Silent Bob, TDF, and Sonic RPG. The main focus is now to complete the epic Knuckles: Wands of Dreams fan game and then start focusing on original titles made in RPG Maker 2000 and possibly any other good games making program I can find (possibly The Games Factory).
The main reason the site hasn't been updated for a hell of a long time is that I've become a staff member at Chaos Media Games. And now thanks to Solorfrog at CMG I have a place to host my games and show off my char sets and such. Therefore the Resources section is being taken down and any new char sets and such will be uploaded to CMG.
I'm going to update all the pages gradually with new wording and stuff. Also, any visitor during the SoaH E2 event will have noticed; Manic Knuckles is completed! Unfortunately the download is minus the RTP meaning only people who already have the RTP installed can play it. The game files can be found HERE.
There is also a Knuckles: Wands of Dreams Demo out now! Click here to download it! Hopefully by the end of August the whole game will be complete. (NOTE: The demo requires the RTP to already have been installed).
4/12/02 "Late update and 2 new games!"
Updates are a bit slow aren't they? Most web masters update regularly, don't they?, well it seems I don't! I meant to make this update some time last month, but well this is my study leave for my mock exams and I've finally got a bit of spare time to spend on the site.
I've added a new section - Resources - in which people can find char sets, sprite sheets and soon chip sets. Hopefully once I've registered the site on a search engine people will submit some stuff for it.
I'm also now working on a platform game called Manic Knux. A Manic Miner style game featuring Knuckles. I'm gonna put the char set I made of Knux in the new resources section too. I've had the demo completed for release for some time now, but I held it back to add one more level in and try and sort out a few glitches, hopefully Knuckles will now die in the demo.
This is a bumper update for games! I've started on a Jay and Silent Bob game entitled "Enter the Demon". I made a demo,. but due to the fact it sucked I'm gonna hold it back from public release for a while till I've added a short dungeon style area to the game.
I'm moving the Demos of my games from Angelfire to Yahoo Briefcase. That should make it easier for the demos to be downloaded. Soon all the demos of my games will be uploaded to Briefcase and available for download!
Some of you may have noticed that the link for the Sonic RPG demo was broken, well the fact is I never uploaded the demo due to technical problems (NOTE: that sounds more impressive than due to a broken floppy disk).
Also I've managed to restore the updates that were lost as I just remembered I had a copy of the old site index. And I've added a groovy new background! Which I used HTML to do! This is probably the biggest update I've ever made to any single one of my sites.
28/10/02"Where did all the updates go?"
Updated the main page with the new layout. I hope to add a sprites section soon and reorganise the site pages. I've decided to change my main game that I'm working on. From now on I'll be working on a game titled "S Trader" (until I think up a better name). S Trader will basically be a sort of introduction to the world in which Quest for the Chaos Emeralds will take place. I'm also gonna put up a staff profile on myself today with the new layout. I'm not to sure whether I'll update the rest of the site with the new layout today, but I'll do it this week as I'm off school.
13/10/02 "Messing about in FrontPage"
Yo! I just downloaded the layout that Dennis Spielman did for the site.
Currently this isn't even on the net yet, coz I'm just messing in FrontPage. But
when this does get uploaded hopefully it won't be long before the rest of the
site gets the new layout.
I'm sure the proto Dennis showed me had a way cooler background, but that was
probably my mind playing tricks on me.
3/10/02
Ok, I loaded up some screens of Sonic the RPG. Also I changed the site
layout. Hopefully the 'hacker' scenario is now just a memory. Hopefully I'll have the sprites section up by the end of the week. C ya!
9/9/02
Yeah, I know this update is below the very first update (EGGFAN: Not
anymore it's not!), so sue me if I'm
lazy. The Freeservers hosting is pretty tacky and I'm going to have a look
at some other hosts like Geocities and Angelfire. Also, I didn't upload
the sprites section last weekend coz I got Super Mario Sunshine and was playing it
all weekend.
7/9/02
Ok. Were finally up and running. Can't think of much to say, 'cept the site will
be running properly in a while. Until now just read the Sonic RPG storyline since
that's the only part up yet.
(NOTE: Removed when the site got its new layout)
Also, thanks to Chaos Media Games for the hosting of our games!
